While we are passionate about caring for our church community, we firmly believe that to be the hands, feet and voice of Jesus, we must move outside of the walls of our church. We do this by partnering with other organizations, both local and throughout the world, to meet the needs of all God's children.
GOD'S WORK OUR HANDS
GOG participates in this annual ELCA day of service in September by serving others in our community. Previous projects include landscaping and carpentry work for our neighborhood school, car washes for the local food bank, blessing bags for homeless in our community and many more.
GOG has chosen to be a partner in a multi-congregational coalition of Colorado churches seeking to provide support to the people of Nicaragua. Monetary donations, hygiene supplies and peace dolls made by our own Crafty Group are just a few of the ways that we have assisted in this effort.
Led by a passionate member of our congregation, GOG works in conjunction with the Family Promise organization to provide both financial assistance and donations of furniture and household items to help transition families from homelessness to their own "home."
SENIOR SUPPORT SERVICES
GOG is invested in supporting Senior Support Services, the only day center in Denver for hungry and homeless seniors. Our support ranges from monetary donations, clothing and winter apparel, to food, hygiene items and blankets.
We are blessed to live in a state with two Lutheran Camps! GOG has provided support to our camp ministries by supporting youth with camp scholarships, work day assistance and monetary and other donations. We have even "provided" camp counselors to both Rainbow Trail and Sky Ranch!
LUTHERAN FAMILY SERVICES
GOG works closely with LFS to help support their work with refugee families, senior citizens, and foster families. Along with our yearly budgetary commitment, our Annual Angel Tree project provides Christmas gifts to those who otherwise would not receive one.
SOUPER BOWL OF CARING
For the past decade GOG has joined faith based organizations around the world to fight hunger in our community. GOG Youth have collected food and monetary donations on Super Bowl Sunday and Sundays leading up to the big game and have donated those items to local food banks.
Through monthly and special food drives and yearly monetary support through our budget, we strive to support our local community food banks in providing for basic human needs of food, clothing and shelter.
